MGM School of Worship

The MGM School of Worship is established to:

  1. Nurture new and upcoming worship leaders in the country.

  2. Encourage locally composed worship songs to be sung in our churches.

  3. Network worship leaders to create a national worship identity and fellowship,

  4. Inspire local songwriters to compose songs for the nation.

  5. Bring understanding, experience and depth to worship leaders.

In 2014, we invited an experienced worship leader, Bob Fitts to teach and mentor the first batch of students. It was held at Tung Ling Seminary. The other faculty members comprised of the MGM Committee.

In 2019, we organized the second school with students registered from all over Malaysia.

MGM School of Worship is under the leadership/direction of the MGM Committee with the Dean (Lourdes Dass) in charge of the academic and administrative matters of the school.

He is a songwriter, worship leader and musician. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Lourdes began to write songs from 2001 onwards for congregational singing. Two of his songs ‘Candles Shine’ and ‘Together’ were entries for the finals of the Malaysia Revival Songwriting Competition (“MRSC”) in 2005 where his song ‘Together’ was the runner’s up in the horizontal category. Another song, ‘Destiny’ was ranked 7th in an online gospel music chart, Soundclick in 2006. His songs have been featured in various local gospel albums over the years which include Destiny (by New Life Restoration Centre, Shah Alam), Carbon (by MRSC), Doa Malaysia, Hokkien Praise, Make Me Strong, Candles Shine (his own album) and recently in 2018 in MGM’s album ‘United’. He also assisted with some original compositions for Christmas and Easter plays at his church, Harvest Christian Assembly, Klang (“HCA”).

His desire is to see churches in Malaysia experience a greater sense of the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit as they worship together in His presence. His vision is that new songs be birthed which will bring times of refreshing for this beloved nation and for the world at large. As Dean of MGM’s School of Worship, he prays that more local Spirit filled songwriters will emerge for the church in Malaysia and that there will be greater hunger for the move of the Holy Spirit during worship services.

We welcome his participation and look forward to working with him for the establishment and development of the school.
